Most hedges do well with one to two trims a year, depending on species and how fast they grow. Fast growers like cedar or laurel may need more frequent attention to stay in shape.

Late spring through summer works for most species, after the first flush of new growth has hardened off. We'll avoid trimming during active nesting season where it applies, and we'll flag if your hedge's timing should be different.

Often, yes, but it takes patience. A hard renovation cut can force new growth lower on the plant, but it takes a season or two to fill back in. We'll walk you through what to expect before we cut, since it looks worse before it looks better.

Both. If you want a defined shape — squared, rounded, tapered — we'll work to that. If you just want your existing hedge kept healthy and in bounds, we'll maintain its current form.

Rarely. Most hedges can be brought back with a staged renovation over one or two seasons. The exception is a hedge that's structurally dead or diseased at the core — in that case, we'll tell you replacement is the more honest option.
